Knitting, Knitting Everywhere!

Ok, first things first --  I found my scrabble board. In Denny Duquette’s room. Where he and Izzie Stevens had stashed it!!

So… I took it back. And waited for Izzie to hunt me down (which she did) and ask for it back (which she did) just so I could reply, “How much is it worth to you, Dr. Stevens?”

Turns out, it’s worth a lot! She started fishing around in her pockets for all sorts of jewelry and cash, when I stopped her. I mean – I do like to taunt people, but I’m not entirely heartless! I settled on a price that isn’t monetary – it’s more like a skill. Something I’ve always wanted to do – learn how to knit.

Izzie’s been knitting up a storm all over the hospital today, so… I bargained three months worth of knitting lessons out of her. We start tomorrow night – I’m actually really looking forward to it. Already bought myself a set of needles, and some yarn. A lovely shade of butter yellow.

Meanwhile – I think Alex Karev is really letting this whole Izzie/Denny thing get to him. He’s just… raw lately. Off his game. Emotions too close to the surface.

Like this afternoon – you should have seen Karev blow up – yes, BLOW UP – at Dr. Burke. I guess Burke thought Alex was being too blunt with one of their patients or something… but MAN! When Burke pulled him out into the hall to discuss it, Alex went nuts. He was loud, all up in Burke’s face – practically snarling. It was intense. And a little creepy. And completely out of line… except… that Alex did have a point.

He kept talking about how, though he may not be the nicest guy in the world, at least he’s honest with his patients. At least there’s that…

And I tend to agree with him. I’m not one for sugar coating things (yeah, yeah – I can hear all of your sarcastic comments about that already…) I just don’t believe we should sugar coat things for our patients.

What is it with all of the knitting today?? Just saw Meredith Grey walking around with a strangely shaped piece of knitting herself… Glad I picked Izzie to give me lessons, and not Grey. From the looks of her knitting, Grey has no clue what she’s doing…

Actually – apparently she’s been a little out-there all day. Dr. Torres came up to me earlier, looking a little shaken… so I asked her if she was alright. That she looked a little pale (and if you’ve met Dr. Torres, you know she is usually ANYTHING but pale!)

She paused, then told me that Meredith Grey had just been smashing a plaster cast with a hammer – like, smashing it to smithereens. And that it worried her when she thought about  Meredith as the woman who broke George’s heart. That clearly, Meredith had some serious issues --- and they were, in Callie’s words: “a little bit freaky.”

Now – for someone to freak Torres out? That must have been some SERIOUS cast-smashing!

I didn’t say this to Callie – but I think I may have an idea as to why Meredith was on such a tear today… I’m pretty sure I saw Meredith’s father – Thatcher – wandering around the hospital earlier…

I can’t be sure – it’s been so many years, and he looked really different, but – yeah. I do think it was him. In which case – I’m not surprised Meredith was getting a little bit freaky. Last I heard, she hadn’t exactly been a big part of her father’s life…

It’s either that – or the fact that Addison is under the same freaky delusion that she and Meredith are all buddy-buddy friends now, just like Meredith and Derek. Addison was all happy and chummy and FRIENDLY with Meredith today…

Here’s my question – when did this happen? When did they get all “hey, we’ve both boned the same dude, but who cares?  Let’s braid hair!”

Seriously??

I liked it better when they were at each others’ throats. So much more fun to gossip about!

First to comment, woo hoo. And YES, I am a knittingnurse. That's my blog. It's mine, it's been mine and I like it. Ha Ha HA to all the interns that are all of a sudden picking up knitting. Pretty funny that it took them all this long to realize that knitting can "de-stress" and keep your mind off "stuff". Stuff like, your married ex-boyfriend co-dog owner and his WIFE trying to be your friends. Stuff like the fact that you should have known better than to "break" one of your closest friends. Stuff like being so unforgiving that you don't give your father a chance to EXPLAIN why he was gone for so long. Stuff, stuff, stuff.

Pick up your needles ladies and gents, it's going to be a bumpy ride!

Y'know, I had the same thought: when the hell did McSatan decide she and Grey were gonna be after-school pals, as well as the cheerful pseudo-camaraderie of McDreamy and Grey? I mean, it's kind of disgusting, all this "let's pretend we all like each other and that two of us aren't eating our hearts out for each other and that we can all be chatty Cathy together..." Seriously? Puh-lease. Something's gonna give, and when it does, I reckon it'll be explosive. I'll bring the popcorn...

im glad they're friends and that mer/der can go on pause for alittle bit, it seems that ever since Mer broke george she doesnt have the same friends she needs to and now that there is that steamy vet in the picture she might need some place to turn to for advice, and who would know better about "boning" hot guys than addison, seriously.

It is indeed creepy with Addison trying to be friends with Meredith. I get the feeling Mer is more going with the flo and not trying so much to be friends. As long as she gets to be friend with Derek she will play along.

Knitting. I am more of a Mer knitter myself. I haven't done it in like 17 years. Ok...I am only 30 so don't go thinking I am like in my 40's or 50's.

I am not sure I like Callie with George. They just seem like such an odd couple. They don't have that chemistry. I think that is what bothers me. The chemistry just doesn't seem to be there.

First of all- Izzy is so cute with the knitting and the scrabble! Way to knit your cute man a sweater!
Secondly...what sort of knitting needles does Meredith use anyway- they're HUGE...I've never seen them so big.
No wonder her "sweater" didn't turn out so well...
And third of all- I don't understand the friendship with McDreamy/Mer/Addison...all I gots to say is...So long Addy.....Meredith/McDreamy are where it's at!!

you really think that meredith and derek will get back together? no way! after the look on her face when the hot vet showed up i think she totally forgot about him.
and yeah...the addison/meredith being friends thing is weird but at least it shows addison has some class.

Way to post. I look forward to these posts almost as much as the show, but not quite of course :-) Go Meredith with the Vet. Addison and Derek forever. I have noticed that people that like Addison also like Alex and vice versa. There are definitely two camps out there. The Denny and MerDer camp which I acknowledge is the biggest. Then there is the Adderek, Alex-Izzie fans. I am in the later obviously, but Izzie is turning me off lately. I hope Denny gets better, so that Alex can kick his ass. Cause it looks like Alex is going to blow and that would be the perfect way to blow. So let's get Denny a new heart so the battle can begin.

I am glad I am not the only one who dislikes this perky, sweet Addison but Mer seems to know how to handle her - give right back or walk away. Personally, I think she will get fed up with begin between the two of them and this friendship routine.

As for George and Torres - gross.

I think it's nice that Addison wants to be friends with Meredith. I just wish Meredith was mature enough to do the same.

I'm really sick of Alex taking his anger out on other people. Especially since if he truly loved Izzie and put her happiness first, he would accept that she loves Denny and wants to be with him, no matter how much it hurts. But he hasn't thought about her feelings ever since Denny showed up, he was just trying to be with her at any cost, even if it meant hurting her with his comments and attitude, and now he's just being immature. When Alex grows up and thinks about other people once in a while, I might start to be more sympathetic towards him.

I thuink that Callie will get George's mind off of Meredith and be able to move on, thank god! Derek and Meredith should totally get back together. Addison should go back to "McSteamy" in New York so Derek can be happy and she can have someone else that loves her. Meredith has every right to go all freaked out on that cast and Callie shouldn't be freaked out but that. She should totally just focus on her relationship with George instead of on Meredith. That's jus my opinion on the whole Derek-Meredith-Addison problem and what is with Addison and Meredith being "friends" now? She's just trying to get closer to derek by being open to Meredith and make sure that nothing happens between with Derek and Meredith.

Meredith is a little bit freaky. I can understand a good vent, but she went psycho on that poor cast. Girl is nuts. Period.
