The Return

Hi all!!!!  It’s good to be back amongst the living.  Joe and I have been on a hunger strike for several weeks so I haven’t had the strength to blog (is it still a hunger strike if you eat those mini powdered doughnuts? I mean they ARE tiny).  Anyhoo, let’s talk about what’s been going on in the halls of Seattle Grace!!

Okay what is UP with Meredith and Derek????  He has a girlfriend people, and her name ain’t Meredith.  Okay, I thought the downfall of Meredith and Derek would coincide with the end of the world, or a housing bust, or I don’t know, something drastic like… Oh no. Like me going on a hunger strike. That basically is the end of the world. Holy crap! I brought on the demise of Mer/Der myself! I have to go call Joe and discuss. 

But, my point is that I never ever thought I’d live to see the day when Meredith and Derek weren’t together.  But, when Derek got off of the elevator this morning, the woman he was with wasn’t Meredith.  The woman he kissed in front of EVERYONE wasn’t Meredith. 

I was at the nurses’ station standing near Meredith and she tried to look away when that kiss happened.  Well, she didn’t look away quickly enough.  She saw the kiss and everyone saw the pain on her face before she looked away.  The thing is, it’s so obvious that Meredith and Derek still have feelings for each other.  The way he looks at her… yeah, they’re still in love.  At least, in MY opinion they are.  But truly, how long do you expect a man like Derek Shepherd to hang around?  I heard that he bought a piece of land to build a house on.  He wanted to build a house for Meredith, himself and their future children.  Okay, a man doesn’t do that if he’s not ready to settle down.  He’s ready.  He wants to be married.  He wants children.  He wants to be with his true love for the rest of this life.  And well, maybe there’s another “love” out there for him that wants the same things.  Obviously, Meredith Grey doesn’t. 

Meredith and Derek spent most of the day yesterday not talking. Derek was all business with her and would hardly look her in the eye but here’s why I know that they have feelings for each other:  The next morning, after Derek and Rose shared a kiss, Meredith proposed the idea of a clinical trial and Derek just looked at her in that way only reserved for Meredith. 

The question of the day was (I emphasize “WAS”) “are Rose and Derek doing it?”  After Nurse Tyler overheard the conversation between Derek and Dr. Sloan in which Dr. Sloan was teasing Derek for NOT sealing the deal yet, I’d have to say “no” they’re not doing the deed yet.  WHY NOT?   WHAT IS WRONG WITH ROSE???? If I was in Rose’s position??  Let’s just say that Mr. Shepherd would be fighting me off every minute of the day.  Listen, we girls usually “save it” for that special guy.  For the guy we think is THE guy.  Let me tell you, you can’t get any better than Derek Shepherd. He invented perfection.  Yeah, yeah, I know he’s flawed and all that but LADIES, he is the entire package.  I mean it.  Well, maybe Rose wants to take her time.  She IS the rebound girl afterall.  And Meredith Grey?  Well, she and Derek, they were THE couple.  And everyone, including Rose, knows this.  Meredith and Derek were like Sonny and Cher, Brad and Jen, Brad and Angelina, Ashford and Simpson… you get the point. 

Let’s go back to the clinical trial.  One would think that Meredith’s proposal is a way to spend some quality time with Derek.  What do you think?  I honestly think that saving lives IS important to her but I also think deep down, way down, she does want to have some time with her ex beau.  I hear she’s seeing a therapist.  Okay, you guys may be thinking, “Nurse Debbie, you’re going too far” because therapy is a very intimate, a very personal thing.  I know.  But seriously people, if you don’t want me in your business, then don’t see a therapist in your place of work is all I’m saying. Besides, we pass in the hall. My weekly appointment is immediately after hers.

So Meredith Grey is in therapy.  She’s gone through a lot with her Mom’s death, her fake mom’s death, her near drowning… and kudos to her for working it all out.  But, I bet Derek is the real reason she’s in therapy.  Why isn’t she with him?  THEY LOVE EACH OTHER.  HE WANTS TO BE WITH HER.  SHE LOVES HIM.  Okay, so WHY aren’t they together?  I’m sure it’s a question she asked herself and I’m sure, since he’s with someone else now, the question is on her mind all day, every day.  I overheard her mumbling to herself in the locker room “stupid therapy, stupid problems, stupid have to work all of this stuff out so that I can be a normal human being…” Yeah, she’s got some things to work out.

Once she works this stuff out, will it be too late?  Will it be too late to get Derek back if that’s what she wants?  I don’t know. He and Rose looked mighty cozy.  We’ll have to see.  Let’s not hold our breaths though, because this saga of Meredith and Derek has been going on for a while now and there’s no telling how it will all end.

Well people, now that the hunger strike’s over, all my extracurricular activities involve eating.  Time for some bacon and hash browns.  Yes, it’s after midnight but Joe serves breakfast all day. Breakfast and beer. My kinda night!

You have NO idea how happy you have made me that you dedicated a blog to my favorite couple.

There's a reason Derek and Rose havent "sealed the deal" and I am hoping behind hope that they never will. Mer and Finn never did, it could happen right?

I'm just counting down the days that my favorite couple are back together and I LOVE that the old Mer is back and that she is seeking help, but really.. shouldnt Derek seek help TOO??

Yeah, that is right, we have the same name. And all I can say is, Debbie, Debbie, Debbie. Why are you putting all of this on Meredith? Weren't you there in the hallway when she said she didn't want to date anyone else, weren't you there when Derek said he was calling her bluff by showing her the house plans right after kissing another nurse?

He is insane and so are you, if you think this is all Meredith's fault and something she can fix on her own. Derek seriously has to work on his own issues and figure out that HE is the one who still wants HER before it is too late. Meredith already figured that out, remember? Or maybe you weren't eavesdropping that day. And by the way, do NOT encourage Rose and Derek. He is too cruel to flaunt the kissing right in front of Meredith and we all know that she is a rebound girl, so she will only end up getting hurt. Don't you have some sort of nurses union or pact or something where you can break it down for her and let her know she is only going to get hurt. Sheesh. Send Tyler to do it at least, or Olivia, then. She is a good bearer of bad news.

Word to your post, non-nurse Debbie! Um, yeah, of course Meredith and Derek still have feelings for each other. You don't just fall out of love with the person you thought you were going to spend the rest of your life with. Meredith has taken a big step - she's in therapy, and she's really trying to work through things. But Derek? He's in total denial. This is not all Meredith's fault. Derek needs to take responsibility for his own actions. He runs to Rose like 5 minutes after he and Meredith have a fight and then he wonders why Meredith can't trust him? WAKE UP DEREK!

What about Meredith being the rebound girl? Didn't Der meet Mer after he witnessed his wife cheating? Who is really the rebound girl? Doesn't anyone remember how this story has been written. I don't care how many times Der says he loves Mer, he was hurting over Addison. If he truely loves Mer/he would have gone for the divorce from the very beginning. I say go Rose!!! I'm glad she's playing it cool, though.

Glad know it all Debbie is back. You are wrong about McAss being the whole package. I love Meredith and Derek together, but I love Meredith more. And he is hurting her and not talking ANY responsiblity for his actions. If Mer were your sister or best friend, would you want McAss with her?

Well Mer and Der is my favorite couple and I really hope this nurse Rose has appeared in his life so he can realize that there is no one better for him than Meredith.

But of course, after that, he will have to win Meredith`s heart again.

First, I agree with Mamaloa....Mereidth is the ORIGINAL rebound girl! She's an idiot for not realizing that the best thing that has ever happened to her is slowly getting away. Does she seriously think SHE can do better? She needs to get over herself! The Mer/Der situation annoys me. He can do so much better!

I hate Derek and the nurse. If the deal gets sealed my coworkers and I are going to boycott him. We love them together and I don't know what it is about that new nurse who appeared out of nowhere. She is obviously clueless and doesn't care who she hurts. The other thing is shame on Derek. I mean he was sleeping with Meredith and the next day going on a date with this new nurse who came from nowhere. I hope Meredith finds a worthy man and then he sees what he is missing, I mean she did have the vet that she left so she could be with Derek. Maybe she needs to rattle his cage with a new love so he can be reminded what he's missing. Maybe she and Mcsteamy should give it a whirl?

Hi Debbie, Thank you for your nicely and well put comments, bringing us all up to date with Derek and Miss Rose....also being a nurse myself I have seen other nurses like her before, she senses situations like Meredith and Derek's and like a dog in heat without any pride she is right there personally I don't like her, and she will not last, Derek and Mer will get back together the love that they have had for three years just doesn't go away, it is in their souls, and time will tell. They will grow back together. Love is strong. You will see. Thank you so very much I love reading your post. Keep up the great work.

Is it even possible that McDreamy is with Rose?? And what a mean old pig he is, kissing her in front of Mer? It's not all mer's problems that the relationship failed, der has issues too. Sometimes he is simply cruel to poor mer who's just trying hard to make them work. Is it her fault that her father diasappeared when she was 5 and that her mother was a b*tch?
Give mer a break people! She did go into therapy after all.
And how does Rose go and say she loves Der when they've only been in 5 dates? And in front of meredith? Seriously.
It's clear MerDer are going to get back together at some point(they are still in love!)
Poor mer. She's really trying, what with accepting Lexie, and her mom dying, and her fake mom dying and her dad being a total alcoholic. Derek's the one to blame, though he does have this killer smile and eyes and all...

i am from germany and i´ve got an important question....because in germany there are just 11 episodes of the 4th season and i don´t quite understand the shrink-thing.....so mer is in a therapy??

i wish merideth would stop being so annoying..so is her sister..i think her family has the annoy-gene. gee mer, share the melodrama around the hospital please!!! someone bring denny back from the dead, i miss him from the only few episodes he was alive in. i keep replaying season 2 finale over and over
